A skier and photographer/cinematographer in Dubuque, Iowa, Wallis specializes in adventure sports and lifestyle imagery. He has spent the past few winters shooting on the Keweenaw Peninsula, where he works with Mount Bohemia ski resort. See his work at joey.smugmug.com.

An award-winning journalist who has written for The New York Times, Vice, Writer’s Digest and several other publications. He lives in Grand Blanc and teaches writing and journalism at The University of Michigan-Flint. His work is at scottatkinson.info.

A Leelanau County resident, she has explored nearly every corner of Michigan as a travel writer and photographer. The Midwest Travel Writers Association named her Mark Twain Travel Writer of the Year. See her work on Instagram, @travelingcoachkim.

Frida Waara

An avid skier, writer and Marquette resident who lives on the Lake Superior shoreline, Waara says it’s never too cold to go outside — winter is her favorite season. She often is found on either downhill or cross-country skis and has a granddaughter named Wynter.

Julie Bonner Williams

A devotee of nature, history and literature, Williams is an award-winning poet and professor at Grand Valley State University. She lives on the lakeshore with her husband, four horses, four dogs, several organic, free-range chickens, turkeys and ducks, and a mule named Amos.
