A fine-art photographer specializing in Michigan’s natural beauty, Steven was first captivated by the sight of beaches, sand dunes, lighthouses, farms and forests while vacationing along Lake Michigan as a child. He began photographing as a teen. “The Michigan You Love,” his first book of photos and essays, is available in bookstores and online (stevenhuyserhonig.com).


Coreene KreiserCoreene Kreiser

A commercial photographer, art photographer and yoga instructor in Traverse City, Coreene is drawn to beauty and the emotions behind a scene. She teaches photography at Northwestern Michigan College and volunteers as a blacksmith at Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. She lives on a farm with her husband and son. An independent writer, Johnston lives in Leland with his wife Brenda and their two children. He is currently developing a memoir of vignettes — prose and nonfiction poetry — about his experiences in building free and independent media as part of the democratization process in post-communist Central and Eastern Europe.


Lisa M. RoseLisa M. Rose

An herbalist and expert forager of wild foods and medicinal plants, Lisa is passionate about teaching others the hidden values of common plants most take for granted. She is the author of two books on the subjects, the most recent is “Midwest Medicinal Plants.” She writes a blog called Burdock & Rose found online (burdockandrose.com).


Julie Bonner WilliamsJulie Bonner Williams

An ardent antique collector and devotee of nature, history and literature, Julie is an award-winning poet and a professor at Grand Valley State University. She is working on her first novel and lives on the lakeshore with her husband, four horses, four dogs, several organic, free-range chickens, turkeys and ducks, and a mule named Amos.
