Fall 2012: Contributors

Visiting with friends in Michigan gave me the opportunity to enjoy your wonderful magazine.  Your Summer Issue (“Cruising Into Yesterday — A Tribute to Times Past,” 2012) took us all back to great places we’ve been, but also to new ones we’ll include on our next trip back. A veteran photographer in multiple arenas from commercial and corporate to editorial and residential, Sterling Heights-based JEFF GARLAND has uncovered a particular love of traveling Michigan’s backroads and discovering hidden gems — beginning with the folks he meets along the way — as well as capturing  sense of place for those who aren’t there (jeffgarlandphotography.com).

James McCullough 

Lifelong Michigan native JAMES MCCULLOUGH teaches English and education courses at North Central Michigan College in Petoskey, and is founder of the Bear River Writers’ Conference on Walloon Lake (lsa.umich.edu/bearriver). He enjoys fly fishing and riding horses with his family.

Cindy Crain Newman

Midland-based freelance writer CINDY CRAIN NEWMAN writes lifestyle stories for many newspapers and myriad regional and special interest magazines.  Her love of the Great Lakes has come from living near them in Illinois, Wisconsin and Michigan, and explorations by kayak, bike and hiking boots.

Gary W. Odmark

Renowned for his realistic portrayals of the Great Lakes, Holland-based GARY W. ODMARK regularly illustrates BLUE’s “Lake Stories.” His fine-quality, limited edition prints and originals in oils, watercolors and acrylics can be viewed at gwodmark.com.
