Endless View in Ludington – Great Lake Story 2018
Chapter One | Chapter Two | Chapter Three | Chapter Four | Final Chapter
Transforming a house with over a century of history into a home fit for modern living is no easy feat, which is exactly why homeowners Bruce and Julie Lowing turned to the experienced team at Scott Christopher Homes.
After making the decision to purchase the aged lakefront property, the couple realized the existing house was too close to the road, and they would need to do quite a bit of work in order to bring it up to code. “The house was actually there before the road existed,” Julie Lowing said. “It wasn’t even 25 feet from the road.”
Overcoming challenges like where to place the home in accordance with restrictive zoning ordinances are just the thing where the Scott Christopher Homes team excels. “We have a proven track record of putting together projects with unmatched efficiency without sacrificing the quality of craftsmanship, attentive to budgets and timelines from start to finish,” owner Scott Christopher said.
The integration of natural features into the design, from the home’s placement on the picturesque shoreline to the panoramic windows that create the endless views, are evidence of the company’s experience and expertise.
Lakeshore projects require a very specialized level of knowledge and expertise, and in the case of Endless View, this included the demolition of the aging two-story house that had occupied the property for over a hundred years. “Bruce and Julie were particularly sensitive to the neighbors and didn’t want to impede their views and enjoyment of the lake.” Christopher said. By the fall of 2016, the former home was gone, clearing the way for the new modern build much closer to the Lake Michigan shore; a home that would offer a lakefront respite, space for their adult children to visit and plenty of space to enjoy the luxuries of living at the water’s edge.
As one of the top home builders in West Michigan, the team at Scott Christopher Homes is well-versed in the landscapes that make the Great Lakes State one of the most beautiful places to call home. Their expertise and experience in building lakeshore homes includes understanding what materials and build processes need to be used in order to avoid issues that go hand-in-hand with the extreme elements these projects are exposed to. Additionally, the team has extensive experience working with the DEQ and are very familiar with local permitting processes and what is necessary to ensure smooth approvals from municipalities.
The sandy beach is just yards away from the home’s lower-level patio and upper-level porch, offering the family two outdoor spaces to entertain and enjoy the spectacular Lake Michigan sunsets. Scott Christopher Homes’ team maintained the foliage that creates enough seclusion from the road and neighbors to be private, while remaining open enough to enjoy the magnificent views of the lake.
With its assembled team of craftsmen and industry leaders, Scott Christopher Homes created a magnificent modern dwelling, introducing a new chapter in the history of the land. “As artisans of our craft, our team thrives on the challenge of bringing projects of any size, any shape, and any style to life,” Christopher said.
