Based in Grand Rapids and Leelanau County, new BLUE columnists Chris and Tom are fascinated by the history of Michigan tourism and roadside architecture. A seasoned contributor to Michigan’s culinary speaking circuit as well as local and national publications, Jaye — who first began sharing delicious stories as food editor at The Grand Rapids Press (1999-2009) — is an award-winning journalist and the author of “Tasting and Touring Michigan’s Homegrown Food: A Culinary Roadtrip” (2012, Arbutus Press).
Megan Newman
Based in Petoskey, Megan (“Garden-to-Table,” page 46) has been working with Weber Photography for the past three years. Utilizing natural light, an eye for detail and the inspiring landscapes of Northern Michigan, she specializes in events and portraiture (weber-photography.com).
Gary W. Odmark
A Holland resident and regular BLUE illustrator, Gary is renowned for his realistic portrayals of the Great Lakes, lighthouses and marine vessels. His fine-quality, limited edition prints and originals in oils, watercolors and acrylics can be viewed at gwodmark.com.
Kathleen Stocking
Dubbed a “rural seer” by The New York Times in 1991, Kathleen has received awards from Blue Mountain, Michigan Council for the Arts and the Royal Thai Council. The Leelanau Peninsula resident, who has been teaching and traveling for the last 20 years, is now finishing her third book of non-fiction about those adventures.
