Just 36 feet wide, this bungalow-style cottage is ideal for a narrow 50-60’ wide lakefront lot on a walk-out site – yet can house up to five bedrooms, four baths and a two-stall garage. Designed by Grand Rapids-based architect Wayne Visbeen, AIA, IIDA of Visbeen Associates Inc., this year-round residence or quaint weekend retreat is deceiving, offering up to 3,700 square feet of heated space. “The key is this plan’s openness,” Visbeen noted. “This is a ‘not so big house’ that lives way bigger than it looks from the outside.” A vaulted ceiling and dramatic river rock-framed fireplace create a spacious yet warm welcome in the great room, which opens to the dining room and then the kitchen. “Stone fireplaces lend a great cottage feel in the summer, and lodge ambience in the winter,” Visbeen said. Raised up on indigenous river rock columns to allow ample waterfront views, the main living space also includes a sunroom that opens to an expansive covered porch. On the lower walk-out level, the porch is entirely screened for three-season enjoyment and adjoins two bedrooms and a den. “This home’s bungalow design provides a lot of living space upstairs as well,” said Visbeen. “A master suite with attached bunk room that sleeps four, a guest room, and a home theater/game room are easily accommodated.” To view plans or to purchase this floor plan visit www.visbeen.biz or call (616) 285-9901 and ask for Michigan BLUE cottages.
